Benefit: They’re Real Push Up Liner Review

IMG_6696Hey guys!

Today I am going to write a review on Benefit’s They’re Real Push-up Liner. I mentioned in a previous post about my disappointment with Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara but I decided to give this product a try. I purchased this eyeliner about a month ago at the Benefit counter for HKD240. Not the cheapest day to day liner but ah well! :P I gave it a quick swatch at the counter and it seemed fairly easy to use.

The packaging of the liner is thin and sleek, very handbag friendly. It has a twist on cap and a twistable end which is used to pump the product to the tip of the pen.

This is a push up gel liner which is suppose to glide on very easily while giving you a deep black outline. I thought this pen had a really great concept! I have only ever used gel liners from a pot (Bobbi Brown and Maybelline), so was really excited to try this out.

In the beginning I had to twist the pen around 30 times before any product came out. If you look closely, you can see a bit of gel coming out of the tip of the liner. You only need a little bit of the product to fully line your eyes. Make sure to use up all the gel you have twisted out before screwing the cap back on because the next time you use it, the gel would have dried up and become bitty and hard which ends up crumbling and is useless! So make sure to twist the top end slowly so it distibutes just the perfect anount you need. It takes trial and error to find out how much suits you ;)!

Did I like it?

YES!  I think this product is really easy to use. If you are a beginner to using eyeliner then I would definitely recommend this product. I am normally a liquid liner girl so using this pen was really easy for me. This is my go to liner when I am in a rush, because I know it will not fail me due to it’s easy controllability. It glides on effortlessly and you can get really close to your lash line, which I find harder to achieve with liquid liner. Also, it has a more natural finish than compared to a liquid liner. A liquid liner usually gives a very harsh finish but with this product you can actually smoke it out quickly with a brush before it dries and sets.

BUT… I prefer using this gel liner when I have eyeshadow on because it does not smudge as easily. Before applying eyeshadow I always put on an eye primer to avoid products from slip and sliding as I have THE most oily eyelids!! When I don’t prep my eyes with a primer, then the liner does smudge a bit, especially at the ends if I have winged it out. Therefore, if you have oily lids like me and you plan to be out for a whole day in the humid heat, then a liquid liner may be a better choice. But if you are only going out for a couple of hours or do not plan to wing your liner out then this product is great.

Would I repurchase it?

No. It is a little pricey for an eyeliner and I don’t use it every single day. I only use it when I am in a rush and want to define my eyes a bit more without worrying about absolute precision. (Lets admit it, once you screw up with liquid eyeliner, it is hard to fix!!) Also, I don’t like how the gel becomes bitty when it dries up if I don’t use up the amount I have twisted out the first time round. But overall I am happy that I purchased this product! Well done Benefit for coming up with a such an innovative gel eyeliner!

I hope this was review was useful! Feel free to ask me any more questions about this eyeliner in the comments section below. Have any of you tried this product and what did you think of it?? :)

Until next time – toodles!!

Lots of Love,

Tweedle D xoxoxo
