TGIF! What plans do you have for the weekend? Attending a boat party? Chilling by the pool? Or are you grilling yourself under the sun to get a decent tan?
As some of you may know from following us on Instagram (@tweedlets), I was in Qing Hai, China last week. I stayed at a monastery with lamas and was cut off from the rest of the world. During my time there, I wasn’t planning on getting tanned, so I mainly used the SunKiller SPF 50 which kept my face protected, though my arms did get darker as I was high up in the mountains with stronger UV rays. Pretty much everyone who went on the trip came back with their skin a shade or two darker. My face is currently a shade lighter than compared to the rest of my body.
LAB MADE: Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream
I am pretty sure many of you have heard of making ice cream using Liquid Nitrogen. This little ice cream parlor in Tai Hang, Hong Kong is still really popular since it opened its doors in 2012. Even though there are only four flavours to choose from, their flavours change every two weeks. They also have very interesting flavour combinations, such as Hong Kong Custard Bun (my favourite), Lemon Meringue Pie, Crunchy Sea Salt Gelato with Caramel Sauce……they all sound so mouth watering.
This week 3/7 – 16/7: the flavours are – Strawberry Panda, Tai Chi Tofu Pudding, Hong Kong Custard Bun and Red Bean Tofu. This month, Lab Made has also partnered with Tofu Oyako and will be having tofu ice creams throughout July! The tofu ice cream are silky smooth and are made using local Hong Kong organic soy milk, which is a bonus for health conscious people. They are a combination of unique, tasty and healthy ice creams. You are also supporting the local agriculture industry by having the tofu ice creams within the month of July! :)
Hong Kong Custard Bun:
If you have been to “yum cha” in Hong Kong and love ordering the Hong Kong Custard Bun filled with dripping egg yolk custard sauce, then this is definitely for you! Instead of having a piping hot bun on a hot day, you can enjoy the flavours of the Custard Bun in an ice cream form. It has a very strong, distinctive flavour and it actually feels like you are eating a Custard Bun.
Tai Chi Tofu Pudding:
This Tofu flavoured ice cream with black sesame sauce tastes exactly like the traditional Chinese dessert. The tofu ice cream is absolutely delicious. It is sweet without tasting artificial.
Red Bean Tofu:
For some reason, the ice cream came in a bigger size than compared to the other flavours. It took me forever to finish! Similar to the Tai Chi Tofu Pudding, it consists of Tofu ice cream and is topped with sweet red bean sauce and crunchy biscuit flakes. I enjoyed the Tofu ice cream a lot, but in my opinion, it was a bit too heavy with the red bean and larger portion.
This is a super cute fruity strawberry yoghurt ice cream with real bits of strawberries mixed in. The cutest thing about it is the panda biscuit decoration! It even has a green tea flavoured bamboo stick sticking out! How can you miss out on ice cream that looks so cute and tastes so yummy!!
