Best Nail Polish Remover, Base Coat & Top Coat

Are you longing for healthy, glossy nails?
I am a total nail junkie! I love having nail polish on, regardless of it being a pop of bright colour, nudes, mattes or pastel colours. I think having well groomed nails are very important as they are on show everyday and who doesn’t like looking at well presented, neat nails? :)

Even when I don’t feel like putting on a coat of coloured nail varnish, I still like to have short, neat, filed nails with a layer of top coat for a glossy look.

I used to get my nails done every 3-4 weeks and I would get a soft gel (shellac nails) treatment. After about 6 months of having soft gel nails I finally decided to get them removed because I felt that my real nails were getting very thinned down and unhealthy. When my nails were bare – they were disgusting! They were yellow-ish in colour and were very brittle down due to the nail sanding machine that was used to remove shellac nails.  My nails would break really easily and were simply in a very poor condition.

However, since then (2 months ago)  my nails are feeling much healthier and I would like to share some products with you which helped heal my nails to its current condiiton!!!

Karma Naturals – Nails Polish Remover with Soybean Oil & Lavender (HKD350 )
One Drop – 10 fingers!

I absolutely love this product. A friend recommended this product to me, as she knew I loved applying nail polish. The amazing thing about this product is that one drop on a cotton pad can remove your nail polish on all 10 fingers. It is also organic which means there is no nasty chemicals drying out your nail buds and cuticles.

I use to use really cheap nail varnish remover from Sasa that would cost HKD20 or less but was seriously drying due to harsh chemicals and my nails would be left feeling crusty and brittle. Having used this product from Karma Naturals for over two months (once per week) I have found my nails and cuticles to be in such good condition (really moisturised). Another bonus about this product is that it smells amazing. I purchased the Lavendar scent and there are many other scents to choose from! The lady at the shop told me that if I was travelling, I can simply put a drop of oil onto a cotton pad and leave it in a small ziplock bag (it won’t dry up) and use it when I need to. I find that really handy as it helps to save so much space when travelling. Even though this product may be a bit pricey for a nail varnish remover – I fully recommend it! It has been worth every penny and I could never change back to using cheap chemical nail polish removers!!

Orly – Polishield 3 in 1 Topcoat (HKD120)
A topcoat that gives you a shellac gel finish.

One coat of this stuff will leave your nails looking glossy and polished which is the look we want to achieve from soft gel nails. It dries very quickly and does an extremely good job at preventing nail chipping! Again, highly recommended! I have been wearing my current nails varnish for 4 days now and it hasn’t chipped at all and I have been playing sport and cleaning and lifting things! Credits to this orly topcoat! ;)

OPI – Original Nail Envy, Nail Strengthener (HKD160)

I am sure a lot of you have seen or heard of this OPI nail product. I have really been loving this nail strengther for the past few months. I like to use it as my base coat. This product has done an amazing job at strengthening my super weak flimsy nails (after the soft gel incident). If I am going for a bare nail look then I will use two coats of this, which hardens my nails and makes it much stronger but also leaving a shiny finish.

Essie – Nice is Nice / Revlon – Parfumerie Fresh Linen / Essie – Mint Candy Apple

Here are three colours that I am currently LOVING! I have been wearing these colours non-stop recently, embracing the spring season! I love pastels, they are so gorgeous! The one from Revlon is really special and is definitely worth mentioning. The product claims to smell of fresh linen once dried – and it DID! I could smell the lovely scent up to 3-4 days after having applied the product which is amazing! The only problem is you can’t put a top coat on, otherwise it will just smell of top coat.

That is it for this blog! I hope you enjoyed it and let me know what your favourite nail products are!

Lots of Love, Tweedle D xoxoxoxo
